The Prospect Point Observation Tower provides breathtaking panoramic views of Niagara Falls and the Niagara River. It’s one of the only spots where you can see both the American Falls and Horseshoe Falls at the same time. From here, visitors can also take the elevator down to the base for easy access to the world-famous Maid of the Mist boat tour — an experience that brings you face-to-face with the power of the falls.
Niagara Falls State Park, established in 1885, is the oldest state park in the United States. Designed by the famed landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted, who also co-designed Central Park in New York City, the park preserves the natural beauty of the falls while providing visitors with scenic trails, observation points, and an unforgettable connection to one of the world’s greatest wonders.
The American Rapids are a dramatic and vital section of the Niagara River, representing the water’s final, powerful rush before it cascades over the edge of Niagara Falls. These fast-moving currents showcase the sheer force and energy that make the falls one of nature’s most awe-inspiring wonders.
Green Island separates the American Rapids from Goat Island and is crossed by pedestrian bridges.
Goat Island provides stunning viewpoints of both the American and Horseshoe Falls, as well as access to attractions like Cave of the Winds.
Luna Island, a serene spot between the American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls, offers some of the park’s most intimate and breathtaking views of the cascading water.
A monument honoring Nikola Tesla stands at Niagara Falls in tribute to his groundbreaking work in hydroelectric power. It was here that Tesla’s alternating current (AC) system was first implemented, allowing the mighty force of Niagara Falls to be harnessed to generate electricity — making it one of the world’s first large-scale hydroelectric power sources and a landmark achievement in modern engineering.
Terrapin Point, located on the western edge of Goat Island, offers one of the most spectacular vantage points of the Horseshoe Falls. From this lookout, visitors can stand just steps away from the thundering water and feel the mist rise from below. It’s one of the most breathtaking and immersive spots in Niagara Falls State Park, providing unforgettable photo opportunities and a true sense of the falls’ immense power and beauty.
